Weekly foundation practices help you get back into your body so you can source the wisdom and support that’s available to you there. They are designed to be easy to action and accessible to all bodies.
When you listen in to your body, what does it have to say?
Practice: Listen In
For 2-3 minutes at the very beginning of your day, I want you to listen in to your body. You can do this practice while lying in bed right after you wake up.
Lie on your back in a comfortable position.
Place your hands on your belly or place one hand on your belly and one hand on your chest.
Inhale and exhale through your nose as you turn your attention inwards.
Notice how your body is feeling energetically. Notice its temperature and the parts of it that are relaxed and/or tense.
With this sense of how your body is feeling in the moment, listen in to what it needs today. You don’t need to ask it as a specific question. Instead, try to allow your mind and heart to get quiet so you can receive whatever arises in your body.
Be patient. Listen until your body also gets quiet.
Mindfully move into the rest of your day informed by what your body shared with you.
Before starting this practice, stretch out and wiggle around until you feel really comfortable. If you’re concerned you might fall back to sleep, set a timer for 2-3 minutes. Exhale and begin the practice.
