Weekly foundation practices help you get back into your body so you can source the wisdom and support that’s available to you there. They are designed to be easy to action and accessible to all bodies.
How can you start small with the change that you want?
Practice: Start Small
For 3-5 minutes a day, I want you to do something that will help you change your body in the way it’s asking to be changed. The challenge here is to keep your expectations low so that you set yourself up for success.
Make whatever you do measurable. For example, if you want to get more exercise, make your unit of measure one loop around the block. You can also count reps or time.
Pick something that matches your current energy levels. So if you’re feeling tired, do something that’s the right amount of exertion for where you’re at.
Switch it up! If you’re not sure what your body is asking for, try something new every day until you find something that feels right for you.
Slowly build up your chosen activity over the following weeks and months. Keep your expectations low even as you’re adding on distance, time or reps. Allow yourself to feel like you’ve accomplished something, however small it might be.
Before starting your practice, take a deep inhale so that you feel like you’re getting enough breath. Allow that feeling of enoughness spread throughout your entire body. Exhale and begin your practice.
