The how of money.
The very first time I hired a coach, it was to help me develop my ability to ask for what I was worth as a freelance writer.
In my most recent coaching program, l focused on processing my emotions around money so I could create the financial stability I needed to be able to show up and write for myself on a regular basis.
After years of working through my money stress, I thought that I was finally ready to finish paying off my debt and start living my life. I began working with a big writing and marketing client at the beginning of the year and my financial landscape was looking better than ever before.
Just over a month later, it all fell apart.
After a late payment made me realize that I didn’t want to be doing what I was doing anymore, I quit marketing and writing for other people altogether. I fired my big client and turned all of my attention to blog coaching and money coaching.
While it was great that I’d created some financial stability in my life, the next money move I needed to make was around how I made money.
It wasn’t enough that I simply had money coming in and that I was better at budgeting and pricing my services. Those were all important pieces of my new money story but there was something else I needed to work on.
The how of money.
Despite having always had the privilege and tenacity to do work that is meaningful to me, it was becoming increasingly obvious that I needed to get even more granular with how I am making money.
Focusing on how I make money not only shifts the work I get to do, it also changes the impact I’m able to have in other people’s lives.
This new money move also means I get to show up and do work that I enjoy. Work that feeds me emotionally and that doesn’t require the unhealthy kind of hustle that makes what I do for work inseparable from who I am as a human.
The how of money matters.
So what matters to you when it comes to how you make money?
