What helps you feel more calm when it’s unclear what’s real?
Practice: Connecting To What’s Real In Your Body
For 2 minutes a day, I want you to use your body to connect to what’s real in the moment as a way to find calm amidst the chaos of your life.
Start at the top of your head and as you scan down to the soles of your feet, keep checking for what’s real.
Notice tension, space, tiredness, energy, pain, relief or any other sensations that arise. Try to just notice without attaching any judgment to what you’re observing.
Once you’ve made it through your entire body, take a few more breaths and allow yourself to feel all of what’s real in your body.
If that feels like too much, focus on your inhale and your exhale and the feeling of your body receiving and expelling breath.
When the two minutes is up, notice how you’re feeling. Use that information to decide what it is your body needs next.
Before starting this practice—whether you’re seated, standing or lying down—close your eyes and drop your awareness into your body. Take a deep inhale and a long exhale then begin.
